In 2008, The Point San Pedro Medians Committee, a committee of concerned area residents, was formed to address the beautification of the Pt. San Pedro Road medians - “Creating a Garden Passage Through Our Community”.  Due to budget constraints within the City of San Rafael and County of Marin, landscaping and maintenance of the medians from Union street to China Camp has been minimal over the past ten years.  Maintenance is further complicated by the fact that the Road repeatedly enters and exits City and County jurisdiction making uniform maintenance inefficient.

The Medians Committee and Friends of San Rafael have joined together to solicit donations from community members to support the formation of the Benefit Assessment District: financial support for community education regarding the medians, necessary financial studies, and the eventual balloting process.  Such a district has the advantage of providing a stable source of funding to allow the financing of the initial landscaping and assuring that the landscaping is well maintained into the future.

Donations to this effort will yield a high return in making our community a desirable place to own a home and enhancing community pride and enjoyment.  We encourage you to be generous in your donations which are tax deductible.

The purpose of Friends of San Rafael is to financially assist the City of San Rafael with the cost of public projects and programs.  Friends of San Rafael is a 501(c)(3) organization and accepts tax deductible donations.

Under Proposition 218, the collection of Benefit Assessment District funds to improve and maintain our medians are solely for the benefit of the medians within our particular district.  It is strictly prohibited by law for the City, County or State government to intercept the median money it collects and use it for any other purpose.  Please see the attached link for further information regarding Proposition 218, including language prohibiting the seizure of Benefit Assessment District funds www.californiacityfinance.com.
